The logo on the center of the record is an apple sliced in half. Again, it looks nothing like Apple's logo.

HD - I'd agree with you plus you void the warranty doing it yourself.
RAM - Disagree. Definitely worth the effort to do it yourself. OWC or Crucial for RAM. OWC has RAM rebate for sending in your old RAM. It takes 5 minutes.....
I was thinking of having to take off the screen and use the anti lint kit, it's a pain, but I just realized I mixed up the RAM its under by the speakers.... totally easy... oops.
But, $50 too to bad to just have it done.

Wow apple is attempting to get the gaming market. I love my dual monitor amd eyefinity combo on my PC is good to see now apple computers may get a taste of this great monitor setup. FYI thunderboat daisy chaining will only duplicate monitors it will be unable to produce three different monitors. My only question is what video card do they have running it. If it it not a 69XX or above or Xfired it will lag horribly.

I wouldn't give you good odds for WWDC, but you should have your update within less than a month from it.
Merom isn't out at the time of WWDC- it won't be until later in August. It is possible they may let apple take pre-orders if steve wants to really make it a massive attack at WWDC on all parts of the line charging ahead into the next generation, but you never know with him.
Of course the way things are going, for all we know there may really be PB G5s at WWDC, who knows nowadays :rolleyes:Unless Apple gets some special early treatment from Intel, I agree with preorders.

I personally think that this sux. The Cingular store here is a huge joke. You could walk in there and no one would even notice that you were there. They will sit there in their cell phones and talk, laugh and carry on with there personal life and not worry about making a new customer. Also there customer service, every time I dealt with them, was just horrid. I was a BellSouth/Cingular customer for almost 10 years and had billing problems at least 2 months out of the year. I would call in and explain to them the problem, the supervisor would look over it and tell me I will have a credit on my next bill. Well sometimes the next bill was 3 months down the road, is that how you deal with your customers? I think not.
I call up Verizon and tell them I have a problem, on last thursday, I talk to a supervisor and we get the issue worked out. She asked me when I would like my credit applied, as soon as possible or on my next billing cycle. I told her as soon as possible, I had my credit applied to my account saturday.
I know this got a off topic, but switching back to a crap company like Cingular is not in my future, no matter if they call me up and offer me a free iPhone to come back to them.
You sound like a pain in the ass to have as a customer.

I'm definitely going to buy one of these. Despite what it says in my profile (which I need to update really don't I?), I've been sans iPod for sometime now and was waiting for these updates. It was pretty much what I expected and I'm pretty pleased. I'm disappointed that the lower end model didn't get a little increase in capacity but it got a price drop instead so, it's not that bleak. I think the updates are quite nice though probably not worth it if you already have a 5G... I'm just hesitating between the 2 devices now. Then there'll be the black or white dilemna...life is good :)

I am not sure if it is a smart move for apple to enter into the cell phone market. There is a lot of competition and I think resources could be used better elsewhere. But it seems Apple knows a lot more about it than me.

Sad day for dem boys in Redmond
I think dem boys in Redmond are pretty happy with their salaries, statuses, and results considering how much creativity and effort they put in it. Not much. The one who's sad is probably Bill Gates seeing how others are running the company now.

This would be sweet! I definitely wouldn't mind switching to Cingular and their rollover minutes. Looking at Cingular's family plans it looks like I would save about $20/month over my current T-Mobile plan. And since Cingular is GSM like T-Mobile, my mom (who I share the plan with) could continue using her existing simple Samsung mobile phone that she's familiar and comfortable with (I'd just have to get a Cingular SIM card). And as someone already mentioned above, phone numbers in the US are transferrable between carriers, so although it's probably a pain I would do all the paperwork to transfer the 2 numbers I have under T-Mobile.
I just hope the phone is sweet enough to make me wanna ditch my already impressive Sony Ericsson phone. The main improvents I would be looking for over my SE phone are:
- Better music player software/controls (I think this one's a safe bet) - Stereo bluetooth (less sure about this one) - 3G enabled (looks promising - I'm hoping the iPhone will be 3.5G HSDPA enabled like the LG CU500 phone) - Better browser (Actually Opera mini is fine, maybe all that's needed is a larger screen and faster connection speed) - Better camera, especially under low light conditions (almost guaranteed to be better camera based on rumors it's 3 megapixels and also Apples experience integrating tiny video cameras into its laptops and iMacs) - Larger screen (would like it to be 2+ inches diagonal and at least 320 x 240 pixels) (this one I think is a safe bet)
So basically, I will almost certainly be getting the iPhone as soon as it's available and I fill out the paperwork to transfer my number over...
Hey everybody, So often I hear people talk about how great the customer service is for Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint. Why are all of you in need of customer service with these companies? I'm with T Mobile and have never needed to call and straighten a bill out, or get credit applied to my account. I'd say the best customer service is the kind you don't need to use. So, I'm hoping that T Mobile will carry the iPhone 6 months after the initial release.
Lucky you. I have T-Mobile and I've definitely had reason to call them. I thought their customer service was excellent (better than Verizon or AT&T), but I still wouldn't say that their service is "so good you never need to call them up".

Microsoft should work on perfecting windows before starting a mobile OS
How long have you used Windows 7? Is it giving you a lot of problems? I have read nothing but good things about it. Please share.
Windows 7 kicks ass, it's every bit as good as Snow Leopard if not better.
Windows 7 is an excellent product. VS Snow Leopard, personal preference. They are both excellent.
When Windows starts to come close to SL in terms of ease of use and functionality let me know ;)
Both are quite easy to use.
Sorry I'm late, Windows 7 launched October 22, 2009. And its been awesome since.
I use both.... and all I can say is "CUT and paste". Windows has had it for years, OS X SL doesn't. Same with window snap.
I love OS X, but, like with a lot of Apple products, its the "little things" that matter...
Both are great operating systems, and I will continue to use both since I cannot run Visual Studio on Mac, or XCode on Windows... :)
You should know by now that the fanboys will dismiss any feature Apple doesn't include as stupid or unnecessary.
SL has cut and paste. CMD+X, CMD+V
Finder does not support Cut and Paste for files, and is unlikely to do so. Its a philosophical difference, and to bring that up as an example of Win7 superiority is silly, at best. Apple could easily implement it, but they choose not to. Its another one of those "One button Mouse" deals, where Apple is being obstinate.
Windows 7 is a much better OS than its predecessors, but to claim it does the "little things" better than SL is so hilarious I don't know how to respond. There is literally no consistency between anything. Just go to the Control Panel, and while clicking dialogs you will be transported between windows that look like they are modern Web Pages (especially the network panels, with blinking computers) and panels that looked like they haven't realized that Windows 95 is obsolete yet.
Windows 7 is a UI and usability nightmare (compared to SL, although much better than Vista). What I do give credit to MS for is that its security model is rock solid (probably better than Linux and most Unixes). Mac OS X has fallen behind in security. This, however, is not that big an issue anymore, IMO, because all OS security is complex enough that attackers are relying on OS vulnerabilities less, and Social Engineering more to gain access. Again, Windows's bad (and more important in this context, horribly inconsistent over the years) UI has made its users more vulnerable to such attacks.
Why get all butt hurt because Windows is a good product and has it's advantages just like OSX? You're free to chose which is best for you.
Really!! I cant wait to get rid of my shite Windows Phone!!
What are you waiting for? Get rid of it.
Exactly. Apple needs to implement both of those features. They are not dealbreakers, but the make the experience more complete.
I use Hyperdock to enable the "window snap"... great app. And another app to allow files to be copy-pasted... can't remember the name of it though... available in Mac App Store.
You don't get it. If Apple doesn't include it it, then you don't need it. :D
yes profit is so, so important for us consumers.
LMAO!! Only Apple consumers are more concerned about profits than themselves. I wonder if they feel the same about their power and phone companies?

If you read the linked article you will see that the guard exchanged gunfire with the 2 male suspects. It's not excessive to try to save your own life...
It still must feel bad knowing you killed someone. I mean the intention was likely to wound to remove the threat rather than kill. Even if all was justified, the guard will likely need counseling or time to get over it. If he actually enjoyed it then he's in the wrong line of work.

There are vast areas that Verizon and Sprint don't cover in the US, too. It's that way with every single cell phone company in the US.
Apple would have to make at least 2 different phones for that to work. There are two primary cellular networks in the US: GSM and CDMA. If Apple makes just a GSM phone, they're also making a phone that can be used in almost every other country in the world. Europe and Asia are the real cell phone markets, not the US.
Yeah, but not if it's locked. I had to call up my provider and beg for my unlock code so that I could use *my* phone in Asia, and then they said yes, and never sent it to me. Call them back, and...well..rinse, repeat.
What about people like me who travel a lot and want to pop in SIM cards in other places? I'm sick and tired of the U.S. market and all of its stupid contract / vendor lock-in ********.
Pity to see Apple on that bandwagon; I hope they just sell the phone in the Apple Store unlocked, and let us choose the carrier we want.

What phone you have? The newer quad band phones get great service in and out of urban areas using Cingular. Quad band has nothing to do with getting service in the US. A dual band phone will get you all the service you ever need in the USA. The 2 extra bands in "quad band" are ones used outside of the US.
